In late June we went to Minnetonka Cave (it was actually a stop we made on our way to find Old Ephraim's Grave, do you remember, the hiking site we never found?) Anyway, we were happy we stopped to explore the cave because it was pretty awesome! I'm pretty sure we would go back again someday, we loved it that much!
Waiting for the next available tour guide to take us down.
Poor Seth, he had a rough summer! We didn't know he had developed an allergy to milk which was causing him all sorts of stomach pain. It was so perplexing because he would wake up fine and happy, but by most afternoons he would cry and cry about a stomach ache and would usually throw up. Thanks to a great Doctor, we were able to quickly find what was causing all the pain and he has been happy ever since. Unfortunately, this is one of those days when his stomach started to ache and it just happened to start as we were waiting for out tour guide. Eventually he threw up in the cave (luckily I had thought to bring a sack from our lunch just in case). Doesn't he look miserable? I'm so glad those days are past!
While we were waiting, Deryk entertained us by feeding the chipmunk!
The beautiful view! You have to walk on a board walk to get to the mouth of the cave.
Just one of the sights in the cave, Grace can tell you all the names they have given each sight, but I can't really remember, this might be the 7 dwarves or the wicked step sisters...hmmm not quite sure :)
This is the very back of the cave. It's quite a ways back! They turned off all the lights so we could see just how dark it was, it was crazy! You couldn't see a thing!! It kind of scared the kids! Just look at Seth in this pic! Poor little guy!
The touching rock. You are not allowed to touch anything in the cave, but this one rock. It was so smooth from all the people touching it, but all the oils from everyone's hands had turned the rock black! And THAT is why they ask you not to touch anything in the cave.
The mouth of the cave.
And our view back up to the car
So then on our way home, we found this poor guy in this precarious situation. Deryk was kind enough to get out and help them lift the truck up out of the ditch. What a good man!
